How do I become a member ... ?

[To become a member of the Gulf Coast Wing, you must first become a member of the Commemorative Air Force (CAF). After you are a member of the CAF, you are entitled to become a member of as many CAF units as you choose. See the "Membership" page for details.]

Where do you meet ... ?

[We meet on the 2nd Saturday of each month at the GCW Hangar, located on the east side of Hobby Airport (behind the Hertz rental facility), on Nelms St. Time: 0930.  See Directions Page.   Public and prospective members are welcome.]

Who we are ... ?

[We are members of the CAF and Gulf Coast Wing. We are a group of volunteers dedicated to the goals of the CAF and restoring our assigned aircraft to flying condition. We proudly volunteer time and energy to this endeavor.]

Do I have to be a pilot to join ... ?

[No. You do not have to be a pilot or a veteran to become a member of the CAF or our Wing. See the membership page for more details.]

If I join will I be allowed to fly on the B-17 ... ?

[Yes. You will be a crew member which will entitle you to fly on the B-17.  Of course flying is not the only part of being a member.  Maintenance and other logistics are involved in our operation.]

How much does it cost to join ... ?

[The initial cost to join the CAF is $200 for the first year; $160 annual dues and a $40 processing charge paid in the first year of membership only. NOTE: annual dues will increase to $200 per year beginning March 1, 2008. A payment plan is available. In addition to the CAF dues, annual dues for the Gulf Coast Wing  are $50. See the membership page for more details.]

Can I tour with the plane ... ?

[ All members are eligible to fly as part of the crew while the plane is on tour.]
