one of the few remaining flyable B-17s took flight after 7 ˝
years of labor intensive “heavy” maintenance and extensive

November 1st, this B-17 remained on display and was
visited by numerous air show attendees, visitors and media.

Owned by the Commemorative Air
Force (CAF) and maintained by the Gulf Coast Wing, this B-17
is one of just a handful of flyable WWII Flying Fortress
Bombers remaining in the world today. The CAF is a non-profit
501-c-3 organization whose mission is to educate through the
preservation of historic warplanes from the past, known as the
CAF Ghost Squadron. Through flight, these airplanes
recreate, remind and reinforce the lessons learned from the
defining moments in American Military Aviation History.
